More about lisa
from a hill in Indiana to the hills of Pennsylvania
My story began in a little town where my dad managed a manufacturing plant. I am the second-born of four. And some of my earliest memories are from the house my parents found that sat atop one of the few hills in the state of Indiana. Our neighbor’s cows would sometimes find their way into our yard. And tornadoes were rumored to have passed by too close for comfort. Church was a top priority for our family, so we were there any time the doors were open. And that would be our pattern for the years to come.
A few years later, my parents answered God’s call to full-time ministry. So we moved to the top of yet another hill, this time for Seminary. While it was a very challenging time for my parents, my memories from those three years in Pennsylvania are nothing but sweet – woods to explore, neighborhood trees to climb or make forts beneath, creeks with crayfish and rope swings. Those were the days!
Dad’s graduation from seminary three years later took us to the picturesque Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, just as I was entering Middle School. Have I mentioned yet that I actually enjoy moving? God must’ve given me a bit of a restless heart, knowing it would come in handy. But the move to Skaneateles was a more difficult one for me, as I never really found where I fit in at school.
So I embraced the role of pastor’s daughter and, years later, married the handsomest, funniest, and smartest guy from youth group. Last year we celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary! Dan and I have six adult children, and a growing gaggle of grandkids.
After our last child (and only daughter) graduated from high school, God surprised Dan and me with our own call to full-time ministry. We left our home in upstate NY in 2017, and joined the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as collegiate staff at Millersville University in PA. God has blessed me with the perfect opportunity to blend all my passions and gifts together – baking, studying and teaching God’s Word, and attending and photographing sporting events. And in my spare moments…I write.
My prayer is that as I share the thoughts God shares with me, those who stop by to read them will be encouraged, and perhaps inspired to spend more time with God. He always has something to share when we slow down long enough to listen.
